15.2.5. Avoiding Disaster Scenario 5: Deteriorating Chip Reliability

Adaptive SOC designs can repair themselves. On-chip processors are good candidates for running adaptive-configuration algorithms that can reroute signals and functions if an SOC suffers a partial failure in the field. The same redundant processors placed on an SOC to boost manufacturing yield can be used to fix field failures with the right sort of system design.
