Acknowledgments

We would first like to thank Preethi Menon for all her hard work in technical editing of this book. We tend to write to very technical audiences in bits and bytes, and she kept the book on track. The late-night e-mails asking for a quick review of a new chapter and a sanity check of what we wrote made this book possible and readable.

Second, we would like to thank a strong supporting cast that is the Foundstone team. We work with some absolutely astounding people who have provided insight and motivation to write this book. Being surrounded by so many driven people, several of whom have been through the writing process, made it possible to give up the nights and weekends it took to complete this book.

Finally, we want to acknowledge the monumental efforts, self sacrifice, and dedication of privacy activists such as Phil Zimmerman and organizations such as the Electronic Privacy Information Center, the Electronic Frontier Foundation, and the hundreds of others who work tirelessly on a daily basis to keep us all informed about threats to our personal lives and who fight for our right to privacy.

All this technology means nothing if we can't live together in peace!
