Tickets to sporting events are a terrific way to reward individual or group performance. If employees meet specific objectives, they are rewarded with tickets to a local sporting event, such as a baseball game.

Depending on the project and participants, these rewards can be given to a few employees or even the entire department. In fact, when you make this a group award, you are likely to see more team-oriented behaviors among the employees. You are also likely to hear the employees incorporate more sports vocabulary into their daily work as they strive to handle curveballs, play hardball, and avoid striking out.

Assignment

Look over the projects anticipated for the next few months and see if any lend themselves to this type of reward. If you find one, spell out the specific objectives, contact the closest professional sports organization and start lining up the tickets, and then present the project to your employees.

If they meet the goals and get to go to a ballgame, you can boost the recognition by giving them coupons for free food and beverages at the park. For some additional recognition, contact the ballpark ahead of time and have the employees’ names flashed on the scoreboard for an official welcome.
