A Polished Reward

One gleaming example of a highly visible reward that is consistently well received is a free carwash. When your team has been performing well and you are seeking a sweeping reward, this one really shines.

On a basic level, a newly washed car saves your employees time and money, two commodities that your employees truly value. In a broader sense, this reward tells your employees that you care about them whether they are on the job or off. Timing the carwash with the completion of a major project or the start of a new business cycle is an excellent way to psychologically wipe the slate clean and start fresh.

As employees go to and from work for days and possibly weeks after the carwash, the good feelings associated with this reward will be riding with them. And to keep this reward fair, don’t forget to give carwash vouchers to employees who carpool or take public transportation to work.
