Employee of the Year

It is obviously important to provide recognition for your best employees, yet the question remains of what to do about the best of the best. That’s where “Employee of the Year” enters the picture. The purpose of this award is to recognize one individual whose performance stands out above all others in all respects.

The presentation of this award is accompanied by more fanfare than other awards, and it is best done at a major company event that can include family members, board members, and even community leaders. All of the “Employees of the Month” should be recognized at this event, while the announcement of the “Employee of the Year” is the culmination.

To help this reward stand out even further, you can designate an entirely separate name for it, such as the “President’s Award.” While it is appropriate for the honoree to be given a framed certificate, the status and stature of this award merit something more, such as a trip or a cash bonus.
