If you want to have some fun and shock your employees with a huge gesture of recognition, rent space on a billboard that many employees pass on their way to work. The billboard can include a congratulatory message to an individual or team, along with a photo, artwork, and logo.

By using your local telephone directory or a search engine, you can find numerous media companies that can rent billboard space just about anywhere, often on a monthly basis and at reasonable rates. If you are looking online, your keywords are “rent” and “billboard space.” Check out pricing and timing, and try to select a spot on a route traveled by many of your employees.

This type of recognition is best used for very special accomplishments by an individual or group, and it is guaranteed to make an indelible imprint on the recipients as well as the rest of your team. You can magnify the message even further by taking pictures of the employees in front of their billboard and posting them on the company’s Website and Wall of Fame.

This recognition can be part of another program, such as the “Employee of the Month,” or it can literally be a stand-alone reward.
