Engage, experiment, experience, and influence

Once you have explored the design strategy, it's time to engage with the as-is flows and define the to-be flows. A holistic design of the solution will ensure synchronicity between the flows, use cases, and technology. Starting blockchain solutions with a Big Bang can be a problematic approach. Choose a minimum viable product (MVP) and draw a sketch for the future enhancement. Start with a simple, clear, yet critical use case. This ensures two benefits:

  • Simplicity and clarity of the processes will help you to translate the requirement into a solution, in both an effective and timely manner
  • Criticality of the use case will cement the prowess of the blockchain in handling critical use cases

Start with a smaller blockchain business network. Try not to include arbitrators, regulators, and huge consortia. Design a solution that is scalable and dynamic, but build a minimum viable product to satisfy the use case's scope. Details regarding this are out of the scope of this book. You should follow the agile way to develop a blockchain-based solution. You can learn more about blockchain solution design in my next book, Blockchain for Solution Designers.
