SCSI Controller selection can be made in the following:
- During the VM creation.
- After the creation, using Edit Settings.
When creating a VM, choose the type of OS you want and then on the SCSI Controller screen, select the controller you want for this VM. A default choice will be populated, based on your Guest OS selection:
The SCSI Controller selection can also be changed using the Edit Settings menu item (available by right-clicking on the VM in the inventory panel) under vSphere Web Client. The VM must be powered down to change the SCSI Controller type:
Once a VM has been powered on, it must still boot its operating system. It won't boot if the guest operating system does not include a driver for the configured virtual SCSI Controller.
