To monitor the disk command aborts using vSphere Client, follow these steps:
- Open up vSphere Web Client.
- Log in to the vCenter Server.
- Navigate to the Hosts and Clusters section.
- Select the host where you want to monitor the disk aborts.
- Now click on the Monitor tab, then the Performance tab.
- Select Advanced and Switch to Disk from the drop-down menu window.
- Click on Chart Options and select the Commands aborted counter.
- Click on OK, and now you can see the metric in the performance chart.
To monitor the disk command aborts using an SSH client such as PuTTY, follow these steps:
- Open up SSH client and log in to the ESXi Server.
- Run esxtop there.
- For the disk device error, type U.
- Now type F to change the settings and type 1 to select Error Stats. Hit Enter to return.
Once this is done, you can see the ABRTS/s field there. Monitor this field for the disk command aborts:
This counter tracks the SCSI aborts. Aborts generally occur because the array is taking far too long to respond to commands.
