Getting ready

To use the script demonstrated in this recipe, you will need to have Nmap output results in the greppable format. This can be achieved by performing Nmap port scans and using the -oA option to output all formats or -oG to specifically output the greppable format. In the examples provided, multiple systems were scanned on a single /24 subnet and included multiple Windows systems running the SMB service. For more information on setting up Windows systems, refer to the Installing Windows Server recipe in Chapter 1, Getting Started. Additionally, this section will require a script to be written to the filesystem by using a text editor such as Vim or GNU nano. For more information on writing scripts, refer to the Using text editors (Vim and GNU nano) recipe in Chapter 1, Getting Started.
