THE 28-DAY PROGRAM

For the next twenty-eight days, you will be working steadily on achieving your chosen marketing goal. But if you keep your foot on the accelerator the whole time, you will run out of gas!

You should plan ahead which days you will be working on your marketing and which days you will rest. There are rest days built into the program so you can have time to regroup and recharge. You may choose to spend some of a rest day working on a Success Ingredient project or the exercises in this chapter, but you will be responsible for completing your Daily Actions only on the days you have chosen as working days. In the program outline that follows, your working days are scheduled Monday through Friday, and your rest days are assumed to be back to back, on Saturday and Sunday. If your work week is different, you will need to adjust the program days to fit your actual schedule.

On your program working days, you should set aside—in advance—time to complete your Daily Actions, especially if you are already busy with client work or have another job. You may need to plan for some of your marketing activities to take place before or after the business day, or during lunch. Experiment to find the best time of day to fit these tasks into your schedule. Don’t let the work you already have be your excuse for not finding the clients you really need or want. Make marketing your first priority instead of the last thing you do.

On working and rest days alike, read the entry for each day from the pages that follow. Try to do this as early in the day as possible so that you will keep your marketing in mind throughout the course of the day. On each working day, you should also spend a few moments on a Morning Review to plan how you will include your Success Ingredient projects, Daily Actions, and your Special Permission in the day’s agenda. At the end of each working day, take another few moments to add up your daily scores on the Tracking Worksheet. There are more details about these activities in the pages that follow.

On some of the rest days there are exercises provided to help you be more effective and productive in your marketing. To get the most benefit from the program, be sure to set aside some time to work with each of these, whether or not it is on the day suggested.
