Keep Your Prospects Cycling

Donna Feldman is a business coach who helps clients with marketing and social media. She has facilitated dozens of Get Clients Now! programs. “One day when teaching Get Clients Now!,” Feldman recalls, “I noticed that the Universal Marketing Cycle is a closed system. There’s no way out of it! Even when someone tells you ‘not now,’ they’re still in the system and you can always contact them next year.” Feldman explains,

There are really two kinds of follow-up: immediate and long-term. When you meet someone or they contact you, you should follow up right away, but then you also need to follow up with people over time. With a regular newsletter, for example, or invite them to become a LinkedIn connection or to like your Facebook page.

When you keep contacts in the system, you’re able to stay in touch. If you see them post something interesting on LinkedIn, it gives you a reason to contact them. Because they’ve heard from you again, they might end up hiring you, or signing up for your next class, or referring you to someone else.

By keeping them in the system and continuing to follow up, you stay front and center. When they or someone else needs your services, they remember you.
