Nick Curtis, founder of Nick’s
Fonts, has been fascinated with
typography since he was a boy.
He uses authentic historical
forms pulled from sources
such as the Library of Congress
to develop his typefaces. His
aesthetic inspiration spans
designs from the Wild West to the
gay nineties to the Jazz Age.
He began licensing his fonts
in . He fi rst licensed Steppin
Out and Picayune Intelligence to
Bitstream (), then in
, licensed twelve designs
to International Typeface
Corporation () and three to
what was then Agfa-Monotype
(today Monotype Imaging []).
After the launch of MyFonts
.com (), www.myfonts.com,
in , Curtis decided it was
time to establish his own inde-
pendent foundry. Today, Nick’s
Fonts library includes more
than  type families.
