Creating/editing dashboards

Creating dashboards was already covered in Chapter 3, Creating and Visualizing your First Query.

Clicking on Dashboards in the top-left corner will bring you to the dashboards screen, where you can see your already created dashboards.

To edit a dashboard, simply find the dashboard in the Dashboards screen or use the search box. Click on it to go to the dashboard itself and, from within the dashboard's top-right menu, select Edit. You will enter the Edit Dashboard screen, where you will be able to add/modify/remove widgets and rename the dashboard.

  • Edit controls:
    • When in Edit Mode, clicking on the X (top-right corner of each widget) will remove the widget from the dashboard
    • The widgets can be moved around the dashboard layout if you click and hold while moving
    • The widgets are resizable; just point the mouse at any edge of the widget, and you should see a resize control:

Let's quickly review the Dashboards menu:

  • Refresh intervals for the dashboard: Controls how often the dashboard's underlying queries will be refreshed.
  • Full Screen option: Toggles full screen mode for the dashboard.
  • Share option: Options for sharing the dashboard.
  • Actions submenu (contains Edit/Unpublish/Archive): Unpublish will not be available if the dashboard is not published yet (obviously). Archive is instead of Delete, exactly as in queries; all it means is that direct links to the dashboard will continue to work, while the dashboard won't be available in searches, nor will the dashboards list.
