Sunburst sequence

The sunburst sequence chart can be referred to as a stacked pie chart. It is created by stacking the necessary amount of pie charts on top of each other. It is best used to represent hierarchical data where each and every level of the hierarchy is represented by one ring or circle within the innermost circle. A simple pie chart can represent a single dimension data, whereas stacking can represent multi-dimensional data.

The sunburst chart is most effective at showing how one ring is broken into its contributing pieces.

In the following chart, we used the same data of people who entered the building as in Sankey example. For example, we can easily spot that only 8.26% of the people who entered the building reached office 1a (Stage: 3):
