I think of myself as an animal lover — but some
animals are less lovable than others. Rodents
are near the bottom of my list, because I live in a
rural area where they cost me a lot of money.
Imagine a pack-rat observing me as I park
my car outside my house on a chilly evening.
The engine in the car is temptingly warm, and
all a rodent has to do is scramble up a front tire
to find himself a toasty niche under the exhaust
manifold. Now, to maximize his comfort, why not
chew some wires to build a nest?
This is exactly what happens around here, and
fixing the wires is an expensive nightmare. So, I
made my decision: The rodents will have to move
on. (Incidentally, if you don’t have rodents, this
project can help you in any situation where you
may want to create a seriously annoying noise.)
Of course, ultrasonic rodent repellers are
available — but for me, they haven’t worked,
