Printing can be carried out with roll-
ers, blocks, heat transference, warp,
corrosion, or silk screening.
DRESSINGS
They are used as a finishing for
leather garments as way of protect-
ing them from scratching, wear, and
abrasion. They form a more or less
hard, shiny film with high resistance
to friction, and therefore have a
direct influence on the look and feel
of the leather.
COLLECTION
OF SAMPLES
The production of prototypes or sam-
ples is the most expensive part of this
first stage of production, as well as
one that involves a good deal of risk
since it is possible that not all of the
designs will be received positively by
clients. Only what is to be sold will be
sent off for production, always taking
into account surplus in case the store
needs to resupply mid-season.
The process is exhausting, since the
market demands at least three collec-
tions per season: the main collection,
the pre-collection, flash collections,
and updates. Until relatively recently,
a collection every six months, coin-
ciding with the two seasons, was
sufficient.
Once the sale has been made, the
next step is grading the prototypes
that will be produced. It is therefore
essential to be clear about who the
design is for, whether for a woman, a
man, or a child, as sizes vary.
