Using Video Effects

If you want something more interesting than just a plain old movie, you can get really creative with some special video effects. You can make your movie look like an old film, or you can add color effects that make it look as though it was filmed on another planet or in an alternate universe. All you have to do is add the effects you want while you’re composing your movie in Movie Maker.

Add the Effects

  1. With Movie Maker running and your current project open, make sure that all your video clips are arranged on the Storyboard exactly as you want them. If the Storyboard isn’t displayed, choose Storyboard from the View menu.

  2. Choose Effects from the Location drop-down list to display all the available video effects.

  3. Click the effect you want to use.

  4. Click the Play button to preview the effect.

  5. If you like the effect, drag it onto the Video Effects box of the video clip to which you want to apply it.

  6. Repeat steps 3 through 5 to add more video effects to other clips.
