Downloading Video to a DVD

One way you can share the very large files you create when you download a video from your camera is to burn the video to a DVD. Using the Video Import Wizard, you can tell Windows to download your video and to create a DVD at the same time.

Transfer to a DVD

  1. With a blank recordable DVD in you DVD burner and with the camera attached to your computer, turn the camera on and set it to play the recorded video. In the Import Video Wizard that appears, type a name for the video, select the location where you want to store the video file, and select the video format you want. Click Next.

  2. Select this option to download the video and burn it to a DVD.

  3. Click Next.

  4. Wait for the video to be rewound and downloaded.

  5. If you want to end the transfer before the entire tape has been transferred, click Stop.

  6. Wait for the DVD to be completed, and then remove it and make sure that the content of the DVD is the way you want it.

Tip

The video files created in the download remain on your hard disk after Windows has created the DVD. If you don’t want to keep those files on your computer because they take up so much disk space, make sure that the DVD is fully readable, and then delete the files from your hard disk.
