National, as well as his subsequent
Serrano and Hardys typefaces for

Sowersby has designed custom
and retail typefaces including
Meta Serif, the seriff ed sibling
of the renowned typeface Meta.
His international reputation
for typeface design has lead
to work with and for leading
contemporary typographers and
designers such as Design,
House Industries (), Chester
Jenkins (), Christian Schwartz
(), Erik Spiekermann (),
and Pentagram. The Klim Type
Foundry markets its typefaces
exclusively through Village. In
, Sowersby was named
a “Young Gun,” a title from the
New York Art Directors Club that
honors “creative professionals
who let loose their imaginations,
shattering conventions and
breaking boundaries with a dash
of brilliance and personal fl air.”

Fabian Widmer was born in Zurich,
Switzerland, in . He studied type
design and typography at the Basel
School of Design (). After working
for two years as a typographer, he
launched his own type design studio
in together with Dominique Bossener.
The pair’s studio, Letterwerk, is based
in Zurich and Berlin.
