CREATIVE PROMPT

CLOSE YOUR EYES

This creative prompt will help you and your kids let go of artistic expectations and allow your minds to guide you as you create unexpected shapes, squiggles, and lines. You can use any colors you like here, and if your child prefers to use just one color, that’s fine too! You just need a small amount of paint, pouring medium, and water. Let go and go with the flow!

Once the paper is full of marks, have your child re-create the marks, lines, and scribbles by pouring paint onto a sheet of Yupo Heavy Paper, making the same shapes.

Before pouring the shapes, lay down a sheet of wax paper; then prepare the paint mixture. Use acrylic paint, pouring medium, and water to create a warm honeylike consistency for the paint mixture.

Now your child can re-create the pencil marks with paint! For this exercise, think big! The painted marks don’t have to be done in the same size as the pencil lines; it may be easier for your child to create bigger scribbles, lines, and marks with the paint and watch how the flow of the paint changes the shapes of the marks. Try squeezing the cup rim together to create a finer, narrower pour. Once your child is done, set the paper aside to dry completely for 24 to 36 hours.
