Windows SideShow is a new technology that lets you see information from your computer on a SideShow-enabled external device even when the computer is sleeping. This is achieved by using certain gadgets that work with your computer’s power-management system. Gadgets are specialized small programs, each of which is designed to provide a single type of information—new e-mail messages, for example, or appointments, news headlines, or pictures.
Set up the device according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Install any gadgets you want to use that came with the device.
Click the Start button, type sides in the Search box, and click Windows SideShow to open the SideShow window.
Click to set a schedule for when you want your computer to automatically wake up and update the device.
In the Change Device Settings window, make any changes you want to the settings. Each SideShow device has its own settings.
Close the Windows SideShow window when you’ve finished, and use the controls on your SideShow device to control the display.
