The initial search is made up of Screening Criteria. Each alternative is rated a “go” or a “no go.” Only the alternatives that meet all screening criteria should be given further consideration.

The remaining alternatives should be evaluated against the Comparing Criteria—the alternative that meets the most comparing criteria the best will be the preferred choice.
