Concluding Remarks

When you first begin analyzing your situation and determining what it will take to gain people’s commitment, you may want to keep these questions and checklists close at hand. You may even find it useful to put your plans of approach on paper. However, as you become more experienced at creating champions, you will find you have internalized the advice given in this chapter, until it has become almost second-nature. Instead of mapping out your discussions in laborious detail, you will be able to plan for them while you are driving your car or even during the meetings themselves. You may also find that the general techniques described here are helpful in a broad range of situations. Ideally, you will find them useful during the implementation phase of the 360-degree feedback effort, when other groups and individuals will need to be won over.
