11 Radio Microphone Frequencies
* This frequency is not fully compatible with the other Coordinated/Deregulated frequencies and may result in intermodulation.
The information in this chapter is reproduced by courtesy of John Willets, MIBS, of Sennheiser UK and the Institute of Broadcast Sound. Radio microphone frequencies tend to be changed from time to time and the reader is advised to check with JFMG (the licensing authority) whose address is given at the end of this section.
In the table shown on page 72 News frequencies are what the term implies – they may be used by anyone engaged in news gathering. Shared frequencies are for general use anywhere in the UK but before using a radio microphone checks should be made that there is no one in the vicinity using the same frequencies. Coordinated frequencies are for use at predetermined sites and must be cleared with JFMG beforehand. Deregulated frequencies can be used by anyone with type-approved equipment.
* These frequencies, although legal, may cause problems with some equipment due to their closeness to adjacent channels.
Coordinated Frequencies for the London Area
This table lists the channels allocated to radio microphones only. The full allocation list is available from JFMG, as are similar lists for many other areas of the country.
