Specifies the number of I/O slaves that Recovery Manager uses to back up, copy, or restore. Note that every Recovery Manager channel can get the specified number of I/O slave processes. I/O slaves are usually used to “simulate” asynchronous I/O on platforms that either do not support asynchronous I/O or that implement it inefficiently. However, I/O slaves can be used even when actual asynchronous I/O is being used. In that case, the I/O slaves will use asynchronous I/O. By default, the value is and no I/O slaves are used.
