The document that follows is an example of a typical Book used in the sale of a small business. The Book is fictitious, as is Jim’s Bakery.

Note how the content for the sections of this Book were generated as the work products of the earlier positioning activities. This is the reason, writing your Book, is one of the last activities you will perform in preparing to sell your business rather than one of the first activities, which seems to be the natural reaction of many small business owners.
