About the Authors

Joe “Zonker” Brockmeier has been using Linux since 1996 and writing nearly as long. A refugee from radio broadcasting, Zonker writes regularly for Linux Magazine and UnixReview.com and has written for a number of other online and print publications. His home computer collection is completely out of control, and he spends too much time watching gangster movies and The Sopranos.

Dee-Ann LeBlanc is the author and co-author of ten computer books, with more on the way. She specializes in Linux and has written such books as Linux Install, Configuration Little Black Book, General Linux I Exam Prep, Linux System Administration Black Book for The Coriolis Group, and Linux for Dummies Third Edition for IDG/Hungry Minds. She was also one of the first to attain her RedHat Certified Engineer certificate, and has written a growing number of technical articles for clients such as ElementK Journals and IBM.

On the education front, Dee-Ann teaches Linux, UNIX, and other computer-related topics both online and in person. She also presents at conferences and develops online course materials for institutions such as DigitalThink—specifically, part of their popular RedHat series. The combination of these three different occupations (writer, teacher, and course developer) helps Dee-Ann stay in touch with what people really want and need to know when learning Linux and its associated tools.

In her copious spare time, Dee-Ann works on a medieval fantasy novel, is walked by her dog Zorro, and squeezes in a few minutes to spend time with her husband Rob and see the beautiful scenery in BC, Canada. She also is involved in the Society for Technical Communications and the Vancouver Linux Users Group, when time permits.
