By resource consumption

An application can be decomposed by its resource consumption level. The greedy components can be isolated to increase control and reduce resource harvesting. Feed only the greedy ones.

All of the aforementioned approaches lead to a flexible and scalable system, if deployed in a microservice architecture. However, considering a service or a microservice for what it does is not always the right choice. Nowadays, there are new trends in deployment coming out for microservices (we should probably call them nanoservices if they are really small), and this is known as serverless deployment.
