Introduction

RunMyProcess is an easy-to-use workflow solution integrated with Google Apps. Whether the goal is to define workflows, to create user interfaces, or to integrate with other systems, all tools offered by RunMyProcess are graphical and intuitive.

RunMyProcess is a partner with Google Enterprise and the solution is available on the Google Apps Marketplace.

To summarize, using RunMyProcess, it is possible to do the following tasks without any prior technical knowledge:

  • Add customized applications to Google Apps
  • Design and deploy customized gadgets
  • Add reporting gadgets in Google Apps
  • Visualize and interact with a set of tasks directly from Gmail or from Google Sites or any other Google Apps
  • Enter data resulting from a process into a Google Spreadsheet
  • Retrieve or send data to or from CRM or ERP systems
  • Automate actions within Google Apps services securely

More than 1000 connectors are available on the platform to speed up application design. They connect RunMyProcess with a range of SaaS products such as the Google Apps and with other services like NetSuite, Zoho, or Amazon CE2/S3. Other services are available such as sending SMSes, generating Office files, or scoring services.

Particular attention was given to security and therefore RunMyProcess offers a large range of authentication solutions:

  • An SSO solution, which uses SAML 2.0 (see Chapter 8 on that topic) will prove useful provided a central enterprise directory is available
  • Open ID allows users to use their Google Apps credentials to access any RunMyProcess application
  • The OAuth protocol, which is integrated in RunMyProcess, makes it possible for Google Apps to read data from the tool and display it in Google gadgets

Finally, the 2-legged OAuth protocol, strengthened with the security policy that is specific to RunMyProcess, enables processes to access the Google Apps securely without the need to disclose the user's credentials.

Each of these solutions addresses specific needs but they can be used jointly.

Example use cases

Case 1: SaaS workflow

The first use case of RunMyProcess is the setup of a validation workflow for a document before it is published on a website. The document we are talking about is a Google Docs document and its publication, after validation, takes place in Google Sites. For this purpose, a Google gadget allows selection of the pages and files to validate before launching the wor kflow.

Case 2: SaaS synchronization

The second example of an application of RunMyProcess is an automatic synchronization between the Google Calendar and an Oracle CRM on Demand agenda, that is managed through a Google gadget placed in Google Apps.
