To start working with Azure IoT, we need to register for a free account, as follows:
- Go to https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/free/ and click on the Start free button. To be able to get a free account, we need to have a Microsoft Account. If needs be, we can create one.
- When the procedure has completed, we can access the Azure dashboard by opening the browser to https://portal.azure.com/.
Microsoft also provides a command-line interface, Azure CLI, to work with the cloud using Command Prompt. To install Azure CLI, follow the steps appropriate to your operating system:
- If you are using Windows, you can download Azure CLI from https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/cli/azure/install-azure-cli?view=azure-cli-latest
- If you are using Linux, you can install it from the Terminal as follows: sudo yum install azure-cli
- If you are using macOS, you can install it from the Terminal as
follows: brew update && brew install azure-cli
Finally, from the command console, enter the following command: az login.
The next step is to enable the IoT Hub console.
