There is a handy method for adding data from your computer to the account. However, when adding shapefiles, all of the data files that make up the shapefile must be in a ZIP file. We'll add the NBA arenas shapefile from Chapter 11, Flask and GeoAlchemy2, as a ZIP file to the account. Click on the NEW DATASET button in the DATASETS area of your dashboard:

Once the NEW DATASET button is pushed, and the CONNECT DATASET interface appears, click on BROWSE and navigate to the zipped file to upload it:

Upon completion of the upload process, the data will be given a URL and can be edited using Builder. It can also be edited using CARTOframes. 

Now that the account is set up, and a dataset has been added from a local file as well as from the DATA LIBRARY, we need to set up the Python environment on our local machine to be able to connect to the data stored in the account.
