Within the application folder, create a file called __init__.py. Inside of the file, add the following code (while adjusting the username and password to your specific database credentials:
import flask
app = flask.Flask(__name__)
conn_string = 'postgresql://{user}:{password}@localhost:5432/chapter11'
app.config['SQLALCHEMY_DATABASE_URI'] = conn_string
app.config['SECRET_KEY'] = "SECRET_KEY"
import application.views
Within this file, the Flask object, app, is created and configured. To connect to the database, a connection string is used and stored in the app.config dictionary as the 'SQLALCHEMY_DATABASE_URI'. Remember to add the username and password into the connection string.
