Name

PARALLEL_MIN_MESSAGE_POOL (Oracle8 Only)

Synopsis

Values:0 to SHARED_POOLSIZE × .90

Default:CPUs × PARALLEL_MAX_SERVERS × 1.5 × (OS message buffer size) or CPUs × 5 × 1.5 × (OS message size)

Specifies the minimum permanent amount of memory to be allocated from the shared pool for use by messages in parallel execution. This memory is allocated at startup time if PARALLEL_MIN_SERVERS is set to a non-zero value, or when the server is first allocated. PARALLEL_MIN_MESSAGE_POOL should be changed only if the default formula is known to be significantly inaccurate, since setting this parameter too high will lead to memory shortage for the shared pool, and setting it too low will lead to costlier memory allocation during parallel execution. This parameter cannot be set higher than 90% of the shared pool.
