In this chapter you learned about object-oriented component development using the AJAX library component infrastructure. Components enable properties and events and can be bound together upon creation in the Sys.Application init and load events by using the $create method and event binding. Components are the foundation for AJAX controls. We’ll build on the sample code in this chapter as we develop a control library that utilizes Web services for back-end data. In the next chapter we’ll look at control development using Sys.UI.Control, and we’ll develop a robust object-oriented library of client-side controls and components.
