About the Author

Brian P. Lawler started his first printing company at age 11, worked his way through high school as a printer, and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Communication from California Polytechnic State University, in San Luis Obispo, CA.

He launched a design, typography, and prepress business in San Luis Obispo, which he ran for 18 years before leaving the company to become an industry consultant. He has lectured on color management and prepress for companies including Apple, Adobe, Hewlett-Packard, and Eastman Kodak, and has worked as a printing consultant for more than a decade.

He is now an instructor at Cal Poly University, teaching courses in graphic communication, digital typography, prepress, and color management. A contributor to CreativePro.com and InDesign Magazine, Brian has also authored several books, including The Complete Guide to Trapping.
