INTRODUCTION

This section contains eight quotations which I think are important and  insightful. Two characteristics that all of them share are: none of them  fits neatly into any of the other sections; each is fairly self-explanatory and doesn’t require a full two pages to explain what they mean or how to use them. Effectively, they are eight small, but perfectly formed, gems.

A typical example of the type of quotations used in this section comes from Robert Townsend who suggested that:

Consultants are people who borrow your watch and tell you what time it is, and then walk off with your watch.

Robert Townsend

You’ll also note that there is no Top Ten entry from this section. The explanation for this omission is simple. Eleven into ten doesn’t go!

Given the variety of quotations used in this section, it’s difficult to suggest what to look for as you read the section. Perhaps the best thing to do is to identify the two or three quotations that speak directly to you and your experience of work.
