Objectives

Electronic mail, commonly known as “email,” is the application that everyone knows about; as such, many people use it on a daily basis. While we cannot hope to provide all the information needed to configure a complex mail system in one chapter, here we'll examine how the mail system works and how the underlying protocols are used. After that we'll look at some of the tasks that need to be performed to get a simple mail system working.
