Specifies the maximum number of operating system user processes allowed to connect to an Oracle server at the same time. When setting this value, allow for all background processes such as LCK processes, Job Queue processes, and Parallel Query processes. Also, the value of this parameter determines the default value of the SESSIONS parameter; if the value of PROCESSES is changed, the value of SESSIONS may need to be adjusted as well.
