Specifies the length of time, in seconds, that a remote connection will be held open after a distributed transaction fails, in hopes that communication will be restored without having to reestablish the connection. Larger values decrease reconnection time, but they also consume local resources over a long period of time. Values larger than 1800 seconds specify that the connection never closes, since the reconnection and recovery process runs every 30 minutes (1800 seconds) whether or not a failure occurs.
