Summary

In this chapter, we have seen how SharePoint 2010 has improved the search interface with such capabilities as the advanced search screen, wildcards (or prefix matching), and name matching (including phonetic searches and nickname searches).

SharePoint 2010 search results provide more information on the initial results page. The people search, for example, surfaces more information directly onto the results page from the profile on each person's My Site. Evaluating the content in a search result becomes faster and easier with the View in Browser capability.

We have taken a look at the guidance SharePoint 2010 provides as you conduct a search. This includes suggestions for related searches, best bets, and even alternatives when you misspell or make a typographical error.

In the next chapter, we will look at how you can automate the process of checking for new results for searches you have saved.
