For high IOPS, high throughput, and consistent low-latency disk storage for Azure IaaS VMs, Azure offers Azure Ultra Disks. This type of disk offers some additional benefits, such as the ability to dynamically change the performance of the disk, along with your workloads, without the need to restart your VMs. Ultra disks are well suited for data-intensive workloads such as top-tier databases, SAP HANA, and transaction-heavy workloads. Ultra disks can only be used as data disks, and premium SSDs as OSes are then recommended.
