Create an Azure Migrate project

Before we can create an assessment in the Azure portal, we need to create an Azure Migrate project. Therefore, we have to perform the following steps:

  1. Navigate to the Azure portal by opening https://portal.azure.com.
  2. Click Create a resource and type Azure Migrate into the search bar.
  3. Create a new Azure Migrate project.
  4. In the overview blade, click Assess and migrate servers.
  5. The first step is to add a tool to Azure Migrate. Select Add tool(s).
  6. The Add a tool blade will open. In the Migrate Project tab, add the following settings:
    1. Subscription: Pick a subscription.
    2. Resource group: PacktMigrateProjectResourceGroup.
    3. Migrate projectPacktMigrateProject.
    4. Geography: United States.
  7. Click Next.
  8. The Select Assessment tool blade will open. Here, select Azure Migrate: Server Assessment and click Next.
  9. Then, we need to select a Migrate tool. Here, select Azure Migrate: Server Migration and click Next.
  10. In the review blade, click Add tool(s).
  11. The Azure Migrate project will be deployed and the tools added to the project.
  12. After creation, you'll see the tools that were added to the project, as shown in the following screenshot:

Now that we have set up the Azure Migrate project and added the necessary tools, we are going to download and install the appliance in the Hyper-V environment.
