Configuring VLANs on most Cisco switches is a fairly simple process. Cisco provides a command-line interface, which only requires a few commands. Moreover, Cisco provides three different ways of configuring a VLAN:
- Static VLAN creation
- VLAN creation with dynamic trunking protocol
- VLAN creation with VLAN trunking protocol
The commands utilized in this section were run via the serial interface on a Cisco SF 300-08 switch. The command syntax on other Cisco switches might vary slightly.
