HAProxy

HAProxy, as mentioned in Chapter 8, Redundancy and High Availability, is a pfSense package that implements load balancing and incorporates many features not available with pfSense's built-in load balancer. Once HAProxy is installed, HAProxy is added to the services menu; navigating there reveals that there are several tabs. The most significant of these are Settings (general settings), Frontend (allows you to configure one or more frontends), and Backend (allows you to configure one or more backends). There are also tabs for Files (allows you to add error files, which show custom error pages, and Lua scripts, which allow you to perform custom fetches and service implementations), Stats and Stats FS (both display the stats page, which can also be reached via Status |  HAProxy Stats), and Templates (allows you to create templates for custom configurations).
