Lookup export

The exporting of lookups is very much like the export of an integration. Rather than going into the integrations part of the designer, you need to access the Lookups page. On this page, you will see the different lookups that have been created. You can then use the action menu icon to drop down the available options, which includes Export to CSV. Selecting this option will trigger the download of a comma-separated value file which will contain a line before the mapping values which match the column headers in the definition provided.

To demonstrate a change for the import process, select a lookup; for example, the one we created in Chapter 6, Creating Complex Transformations, and add an additional row of values to the end of the CSV.

Be careful when editing the CSV, particularly when using something like Excel as the editor, as it is possible to damage the file by accident. For example, changing the way the underlying operating system represents line termination. Between Linux and Windows there are subtle differences in how line endings are recognized. It is also possible to accidentally make the document tab-separated.

Note that, presently, you can export from within the Lookup editor or from the Lookups page, but an import can only be done from the Lookups page, rather than the editor today.
