Exam Preparation Tasks

This chapter looked at the types of network traffic that hits the control plane of network devices and how this traffic can impact the performance of the CPU of the device. The chapter then covered two features that help mitigate the effects of traffic that is processed by the control plane and hence the CPU. These features are control plane policing and control plane protection. The chapter concluded by covering the use of MD5 route authentication for each of the following routing protocols: OSPF, EIGRP, RIP, and BGP.
