Default:TRUE

Controls whether I/O to sequential devices such as tape backup and restore of Oracle data is asynchronous. If a platform supports asynchronous I/O to sequential devices, leave this parameter at its default value of TRUE. However, if the asynchronous I/O implementation is not stable, a setting of FALSE can be used to disable its use. This parameter has no effect if a platform does not support asynchronous I/O to sequential devices.
