Specifies the number of additional DBWR processes to be used to provide supplementary resources to perform disk writes and simulate asynchronous I/O on platforms that do not support asynchronous I/O or implement it inefficiently. These processes, which are named DB01, DB02, and so on, are also useful in database environments with very large I/O throughput, even if asynchronous I/O is enabled. For best performance, specify one DB_WRITER for each disk device used. In Oracle8, this parameter has been replaced by DBWR_IO_SLAVES.
