Functions in the same way as the COMPATIBLE parameter, except that the earlier release specified may not be usable on the current database if recovery is needed. The default value is the earliest release with which compatibility can be maintained. In some cases, this release may be an earlier release than can be specified with the COMPATIBLE parameter.
